We believe sustainable tourism is important for the well-being of our community, our environment, and future generations. Guided by the UN’s definition of sustainable tourism, here’s what we’re already doing:
Clean Energy:
– 100% electricity from the island’s private power supplier
– eliminating diesel smoke, generator noise, and unstable power.Solar panels added in staff and kitchen areas in 2024.
Efficiency:
Energy-saving lighting, air conditioning, and water systems.Reducing Single-Use Plastics:
Refillable shampoo and shower gel since 2009 - Use paper straws since 2018 - Refill water option since 2019.Waste Management:
– Recycling plastics, glass, cans, bottles, and paper.
– Proper disposal of electronics and hazardous waste.
– Started donating cleaned used beverage cartons (like milk or juice cartons) to recycling with "Green roof " projects in 2018.
– Started donating polyethylene (PE) plastic trash (such as stretchable plastic bags and films to recycling with the "WON" project ( organized by TPBI) since 2020.Beach Care:
Regular cleanups of Koh Ngai’s beach to protect the island’s ecosystem.Organic Waste Treatment:
Using microorganisms for kitchen waste; burning only untreated wood, plants, and paper; never disposing of any waste into the sea.
We track our progress annually using the GreenStep Sustainable Tourism Assessment and share updates on our Sustainability Page.
Our actions support: SDG 8, SDG 12, SDG 13, SDG 14, and SDG 15.
We welcome our guests, partners, and community to join us on this journey towards a more sustainable future.
